Access to Services
There is "no Wrong Door" to accessing mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse services. There are many ways to find the type of service that you need. If you have a private health plan that covers services for mental health, mental retardation and/or substance abuse disorders or disabilities, contact your health plan administrator. If you have Medicaid, Medicare, FAMIS, or Medicaid and Medicare commercial products, or no insurance, and you are a resident of the City of Richmond, a good first step would be to call:
RBHA INTAKE AND ASSESSMENT
(804) 819-4100
TTY for Hearing Impaired
(804) 819-4145
Experienced professional counselors will answer your call, help you through a crisis or provide referrals for services.
Services offered by Richmond Behavioral Health Authority are sometimes offered by our own staff and sometimes contracted to provider agencies. These providers usually accept Medicare, Medicaid and sometimes other insurances. A sliding scale is available for those with no insurance. The RBHA Intake and Assessment staff can help you learn about providers and resources in the City of Richmond.
