Crisis intervention services for children and adults with urgent behavioral health and/or severe behavioral disorders who have residence within the City of Richmond. These services are provided 24 hours per day/365 days per year by telephone and face-to-face office or field visits. Services also include preadmissions screenings for emergency hospitalizations and follow-up case management with local hospitals.

The Second Responders are trained social workers employed by the Department of Social Services. They are responsible for providing services to Richmond citizens who experience crises after normal working hours. Citizens may walk into or call a Police Precinct, call SR's directly or call the police non-emergency number to reach the unit. Richmond Community Hospital offers a 36-bed unit for acute psychiatric and detox stabilization and 24-hour emergency psychiatric evaluation through the Emergency Care Center.

Tucker Pavilion is a 113-bed facility that provides psychiatric care for mental health and chemical dependency through comprehensive and progressive programs.
